Signal & Brus is a place to think through things I believe are worth pausing over: markets, technology, society and politics—and what happens where they meet.
The name comes from a simple idea. Every day we encounter vast amounts of information, opinions, forecasts and headlines. Some of it is signal that really tells us something important. Much of it is noise. The interesting part is trying to tell one from the other.
I write about what captures my interest: the stock market and the economy, AI and technological change, politics and society, as well as more personal reflections when they fit.
My aim is not always to be right or to offer definitive answers. It is to explore questions, test arguments and sometimes take another look at what initially seems obvious.
As I live in Sweden, much of what I write starts from Sweden, Swedish politics and Swedish society. The English and Spanish versions are largely translated by ChatGPT.
A little about me: I have worked in sales all my life, but I now have ALS and can no longer continue that work. I keep my mind active by doing a little stock trading and blogging. I have always felt it is important to contribute to society, so I have been involved in politics, served in Sweden’s Home Guard (Hemvärnet) and taken part in other voluntary activities.
I also have a strong interest in technology that makes life easier. In the past, that was mostly about productivity and automating tedious tasks. Now it is also about managing everyday life when my body no longer works as it used to.
About AI on this blog: Signal & Brus is made with the help of ChatGPT. Without that help, I would not be able to blog. My fingers no longer cooperate well enough for me to write long texts myself. But I can read and correct them. Some pieces were written at an earlier time, and I mainly use AI to bring them up to date, for example by adding recent examples and connections to new events. AI-generated content appears frequently, in both text and images. I take responsibility for what is published.
